03 Nov Twitter Looks For More Engagement Via Hearts
Will Twitter improve engagement by changing the favorites icons to hearts? That’s the hope.
While the social media company says the intent is to reduce confusion for new users, Twitter is trying to get more clicks and more engagement.
But by changing to “Likes”, a la Facebook, does Twitter start to lose its identity as a simple 140-charachter messaging service?
With growth plateauing and Wall Street asking questions, Twitter is looking for ways to add users and improve engagement.
Recently they added “Moments”, which hasn’t exactly been a hit. They’ve hinted they will re-open the doors for developers and now its Hearts/Likes.
But for the average user – non media, non celeb, non politician – does this really change Twitter much? Probably.
