10 Mar Users Ignoring Google’s Real-Time Search Listings
I guess I’m not the only one. According to the U.K.’s Guardian, users are for the most part ignoring the newfangled real-time search listings available on Google search.
The study was carried out by oneupweb which used eye-tracking technology to measure and record the search habits of Google users.
And what they found was that users weren’t very interested in Google’s real-time inclusion of twitter streams in result listings. And as the article suggest, if this trend continues that could mean bad news for Twitter which reportedly is getting $15 mill to send Google the tweets.
Personally, the tweets have added no real value and only serve to push the more relevant search listings further down the page. But maybe that’s Google’s goal. Maybe they think there listings are no longer relevant. Maybe they think showing “breaking news” listings or tweets will cover for them as their listings continue to be marked by spam and low quality.
